Cashier

As well as working at a checkout counter and using a cash register, cashiers may also be responsible for a small amount of customer service duties, such as answering questions about products or directing customers to the correct aisle.
A person in this role is also responsible for maintaining a clean and efficient checkout counter. Other duties for this position are assisting customers with refunds and receipts and providing upper managers with additional help in any area they require
Applicants for this position should be able to process items through the register system and be able to operate the necessary equipment. They need to be able to read, write and count in order to process documents and cash.
Communication skills are required in order to handle customers and work as part as a team, and a sunny disposition will be seen as a great asset by employers. Cashiers may be assigned flexible schedules or varied hours such as evening or holiday work. Salaries for this position are in the range of £ 15,000 a year.
