College Art

There is a consistent need for educated and talented artists to fill employment roles in college art programs, as tutors or instructors, lecturers, advisors, department heads and directors. Those working in this field also have the ability to move into desirable positions in the world of commercial art
The field of art education requires a strong creative drive as well as extremely effective communication skills, in addition to thorough knowledge and applicable skills in the arts.
Those working in this field are generally expected to hold at least a bachelor’s degree in the arts and typically a master’s degree and/or PhD is also required for instructors, directors, professors, department heads and the like. Lower-level posts are often available for those still working toward a degree
Salaries for individuals working within college art programs in the UK begin at around £25,000 per annum for administrators, tutors and entry-level posts, though program directors and tenured professors can make in the neighbourhood £50,000 per annum or more; however, competition is fierce for such positions.
