Court Usher

It is the job of the usher to make sure that everything runs as smoothly as possible within the courtroom. Depending on the court, tasks can vary, but generally involve making sure the court is ready for the next case, all parties are present, all required documents are in order, any evidence needed is to hand and that a detailed record of the proceedings is kept
It is also the job of an usher to make sure that everyone is as comfortable as possible in what can be a tense environment. Good interpersonal skills are a must because the job also involves conveying messages between various parties such as the jury, the judge, legal advisors and lawyers
Excellent organisational skills are also needed for this type of work which often includes filing, organising, planning and inputting data. The job does not require any particular qualifications, but employers will be looking for someone reliable, professional and discreet. A person in this position can expect to earn between £12,000 and £15,000 per year.
