Dentistry

Dentists treat all problems affecting teeth and advise patients on the best ways to prevent teeth and mouth problems. The majority of dentists are self-employed and work in general practices, which may be staffed by dental nurses, dental therapists, dental technicians, dental hygienists, and receptionists in addition to dentists.
Most dentists in the UK either work privately or as part of the National Health Service (NHS), but dentists may also work for corporations, hospitals, universities, or the Armed Forces. Dentists are also known as general dental practitioners or GDPs
Educating patients on how to take care of their teeth, examining their teeth, diagnosing their dental problems, maintaining dental records, managing other dental staff, and keeping up to date on new developments in the dental field are all part of the job. Community dental service dentists provide school visits and care for patients with disabilities and other special needs.
Good eyesight and an approved dentistry degree from one of the UK's 16 approved dental schools are essential to enter such a profession in dentistry. Vocational dental practitioners begin with annual salaries of £29,800, but self-employed contractors may earn up to £110,000.
