Mechanical design engineers may choose to specialise in areas such as petroleum production, water and power, or electro-mechanics
An ability to work as part of a team is essential as engineers are often required to work closely with other professionals, including safety engineers, buyers, planners and accountants. Excellent knowledge of technical processes is essential, and a career in this field requires a degree in engineering or a related subject. There are excellent opportunities for travel, and salaries start at around £36,000 per year.

Description

Mechanical Design Engineers create, draft and design product layouts and schemes using customer specification and recommendations. They perform administrative tasks as well. These engineers often work along with other design, development and production professionals and teams. They constantly review their tasks, conduct studies and research to assess the feasibility of their designs.
A Mechanical Design Engineer usually performs many of the following tasks:
