Events Administrator

Events administrators provide the vision, planning and organisational skills needed to pull off a large social function like weddings and banquets.
Also known as event planners, these skilful organisers work under tight deadlines and a fair amount of pressure from the client. They usually work freelance or with an event planning company, overseeing major celebrations and occasions. There is also work with corporations and non-profit organisations within this field.
Companies often hire event administrators to arrange conventions, conferences and corporate meetings. Planners must work within a strict budget and provide everything from accommodation to meals, travel itineraries and activities for the guests. Fund raising is another sector of this field that works with NGOs.
A university degree is not always necessary, but most planners have studied hospitality management or the like. Skills and reputation are everything in this competitive field. Planners must be highly organised, able to multitask and have excellent communication skills. Planners who work for a firm can make around £25,000 a year.
