Fund Management
The role of a fund manager is to provide financial advice to private and corporate clients on a range of matters such as buying and selling investment trusts and shares and bonds. This person works alongside investment analysts to deliver quality results, the analyst providing the data and the fund managers make the decisions.
A typical day’s tasks include researching companies, meeting with investment analysts and managers to discuss the best way to tackle finances, gathering information and reading financial briefings. Fund management is suited to a confident and team-orientated person who has experience in a similar role
Most companies ask for a minimum of a 2:1 honours degree in any subject, and other qualifications such as business studies, finance, mathematics, management will improve chances of securing a job in fund management. The average salary for this role is around £46,000, while experienced individuals can get up to £65,500.
