General Management

In order to keep a business running smoothly, a general manager is employed to oversee day-to-day operations. The responsibilities of this key position vary with each company and in every industry, but they always involve a wide array of duties related to the efficient operation of a business or department
Those working in general management make sure that suppliers and vendors are paid on time and perform their responsibilities as required by the company. The manager also reports directly to the executive officers of the company, and oversees the hiring and training of personnel
There is a lot of administrative work in this position, so candidates need to be very well organised and have excellent communication skills. Paperwork and payroll must be accurate and on time, so attention to detail is an important quality. This individual is also a leader of the other employees and is in charge of implementing company procedures and policies
A combination of education, experience and skills is required for this position. A bachelor’s or graduate degree in business administration is necessary, along with several years of managerial experience. Salaries are good, however, ranging from £21,000 to £36,000 for managers with less than three years’ experience.
