health and safety officer Jim Last updated by Jenny: 13-Mar-2017
I’ve spent the past 7 years as a shop manager and I’d like to transition into a career in health and safety. Are there many requirements for it? Is it an easy transition?

There are many different ways to access a position, it’s actually relatively easy if you’re really interested. The national careers service page is very useful for things like this, take a look, i’d say you’ll find it interesting.

To be a health and safety officer do you need a uni degree?

Jenny:
Yes, there are specific qualifications. To join the NHS you need a degree level qualification. Alternative qualifications like BTEC, or relevant NVQ, among others also work.
