Helicopter Pilot
The role of a helicopter pilot is fun and exhilarating but not without danger. The purpose of the job is usually to safely transport passengers or cargo to a destination. The pilot is regulated by certain laws and therefore has a very demanding and responsible job. The ideal candidate for this type of work must have confidence and a calm and level-headed approach to their work
Most employers will expect a helicopter pilot to have a least a four-year degree and, of course, a license to fly helicopters. Most pilots start out by obtaining a Private Pilot’s License (PPL) then progress from there. Other skills needed for the job are the ability to read data, understand flight plans and flight charts and keep accurate records
Despite the thrill of the job, being a helicopter pilot also has financial rewards and experienced pilots can make up to £58,000 or more per year. For starter pilots the pay is around £25,000.
