East and North Herts NHS Trust was formed by the merger of Lister Hospital, Stevenage and Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, Welwyn Garden City in April 2000. The Pathology Directorate is split across the two busy hospital sites with Blood Sciences and Blood Transfusion laboratories on both. The laboratories are fully computerised through the Sysmed WinPath Pathology computer system. Routine Haematology is equipped with Horiba ABX, Sysmex and Beckman-Coulter analysers. Blood transfusion is fully automated with ID Gel stations on both sites.
