Lewisham Hospital is undergoing a complete transformation from an aged, spread-out site to a modern compact hospital with critical care at its core. As part of the redevelopment, a new £70million main building has been constructed and opened in December 2006. The new building encompasses adult critical care (ICU and HDU), and adult in-patient wards for acute medicine and care elderly as well as elective surgery operating theatres.
