Logistics Manager

A person working as a logistics manager will need to work out the most time efficient and economic way to transport a large volume of raw materials around the world. They will have to work directly with other departments in their company as well as staff from other organisations
A degree is the bare minimum qualification for this job, although the chances of employment will be improved should an applicant study on a logistics or business related course. It is a good idea to check with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport about the best courses currently on offer for such a job
Logistics managers must liaise with transport companies and government agencies to discover what the conditions are for their company’s goods and services to be transported. They must work out a delivery procedure which will be subject to import/export laws
A person in this role must be IT savvy, as most of the work will be done on computers. They will also need to be familiar with recording stock levels, costs, and the estimating delivery times. This is a job that requires someone who can multi-task and has the management skills to oversee a team of logistic operatives. The salary for this job is between £45,000 and £120,000 a year.
