The focus of Release Management is to protect the live environment and its services from the impact of change. It does this by introducing a structured framework for planning and scheduling that allows proper testing to be carried out. It also assures delivery of new and changed services on a given date, thus improves our ability to manage the expectations of our customers. Its aims are to reduce incidents that impact our customers and to ensure that only tested and accepted versions of hardware and software are deployed.
