Parking Attendant
As the name suggests, a key role for parking attendants is to provide parking assistance, guidance and instructions to drivers. In addition to this, most positions in this field involve the worker in basic security tasks, reporting incidents and statistics to company managers, and overseeing the cleaning and maintenance of the car park. In a few working environments, parking attendants are also required to collect parking fees and give out tickets
The most important skill for a parking attendant is the ability to give polite and efficient customer service. Employees will spend much of their time with the general public, making written and oral communication skills a must, as is honesty, the ability to work as part of a team and willingness to work irregular hours. Average wages are low in the sector, with a yearly income of about £16,000 often calculated on an hourly basis. No formal educational qualifications are needed, although employers like to see at least a basic school certificate in English and mathematics.
