Personal Training
Personal trainers may work in an established gym or health facility, though those with more experience and contacts may set up in private practice on their own. Personal training requires the keeping of all paperwork for the client, attending meetings and in-service trainings, recording training sessions for accountancy purposes, assisting the client in every way possible to reach their goals and conducting personal training sessions.
Those working in this area will need to keep health and safety certificates, including CPR training, up to date. The personal trainer will be required to keep their own levels of fitness up to speed in order to be able to maintain a good level of support for their client. Personal trainers require education levels of at least a level 3 NVQ in personal training or a sport and fitness related bachelor's degree. Depending on experience and education levels, a practical exam might be required from the employer before selection.
Newly qualified candidates can expect an annual salary of around £14,000 and for more experienced trainers, £25,700. With bonuses, the top figure could be as high as £41,000.
