Sales Consultant job descriptionFREE Job Posting
Sales consultants are the middlemen between companies and clients, promoting products and services and building long-term commercial relationships. They may work on either an employed or self-employed basis. Those working for employers often receive benefits and bonuses on top of a set salary, while self-employed consultants work independently, setting their own hours and level of income
Key responsibilities include identifying and meeting customer needs within their allotted sales territory, maintaining good after-sales relationships, keeping records of customer appointments and completed sales, and providing detailed information on the products they are selling. It is also important for them to regularly update their product knowledge, as well as hone and develop their selling techniques
The most successful consultants provide a personalised service to their customers, establishing trust and taking a non-confrontational approach to selling.
Income is in the region of £15,000 to £30,000 but may be determined by several factors, including the number of hours worked, sales performance and the degree of independency of the individual consultant.
