Support Assistant

A support assistant plays a key role in supporting the administration within an organisation. The specifics of the role vary widely between organisations but most jobs involve support tasks such as clerical work, answering the telephone and integrating information as well as basic research duties.
The responsibilities of a support assistant typically include word processing, dictation, bookkeeping, distributing mail, greeting clients, preparing payroll and issuing cheques. They will be expected to possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and to have a good knowledge of computers and software. The ability to type quickly and accurately is also seen as beneficial as well as the aptitude to understand procedures in the workplace.
Employers typically expect applicants to have GCSE qualifications as a minimum requirement. However, a bachelor’s degree in business or administration will be looked upon favourably by most employers.
The typical salary range for this role is between £12,000 and £18,000 per annum.
