Technical Writer

This sphere of work is ideal for the person who has a liking for technical issues, and can write in a clear and concise style. Being able to produce an article or an instruction where the reader is left in no doubt as to what is being said is an important aspect of the job.
The qualities required also include an ability to take a subject and write about it in technical terms. Areas where technical writers are employed are in industry magazines such as engineering and the utilities business as well as in specialist book publishing houses
Major organisations can also employ technical writers in areas such as health and safety where quality assurance instructions have to be correctly written, with no ambiguities. A BA is the usual basic requirement for the job with strong English language and word processing skills to support the academic qualification. Salaries for this position are in the range of £20,000 to £25,000 per annum.
