Television

Working in television is a job which requires a great deal of energy, dedication and professionalism. Greater opportunities exist now than ever before as terrestrial broadcasters such as the BBC and ITV are matched by cable and the satellite companies of SkyBB. It’s a global business so this is not an industry confined to one country; CNN from America employs British reporters, as does Al Jazeera in Qatar.
Trained British television operatives are regarded as the best in the world, so they are much sought after. News reporters, editors, writers, producers, camera operators and floor crew are all members of teams which produce both live and recorded programs
The qualification needed for all these jobs has to be at least degree level education no matter what the discipline. Editors can get professional qualifications such as associate of cinematic editors (ACE), and reporters need a good journalism degree. Once in the business the rewards are great and the potential to become a household name is there. Salaries vary across the discipline, with anchor news presenters being the highest earners.
