Tour Guide

The primary role of a tour guide is to provide information about a particular place or location to travellers. These employees usually have to lead a group of tourists or visitors through a place or places, displaying sound knowledge that will make the tour more interesting or relevant to those involved. Most people in this position are hired by travel companies, cities, or specific locations like museums or galleries.
Some of the most important skills for a tour guide include in-depth knowledge about a particular destination, fantastic communication skills, confident public speaking skills, strong interpersonal skills, and on occasions, the ability to drive buses, coaches, and cars
Most of the applicants for this position needn’t have a degree or relevant accreditations, as the position usually offers training. However, essential background knowledge of an area or location is generally required, so tour guides with previous education do have an advantage. Salaries for this position usually stand at around £15,000 a year, but this largely depends on the company and number of hours worked.
