Description

Volunteers are required for duties related to community, charity, and non-profit making organisations. They may perform office tasks, work in the field helping other people or collect money for charity. Hospitals and schools are other examples of places where volunteers have job placements, by interacting with patients or pupils or in fundraising duties. This job will not commonly be paid, as its name says.

A Volunteer usually performs many of the following tasks:
• Undertaking administrative tasks.
• Assisting children.
• Preparing food and cleaning tables.
• Arranging donated goods.
• Helping sick people.

Education

There is a wide variety of suitable qualifications to be a Volunteer, depending on type of job and organisations. In cases of medical environment, it is required to have relevant experience and training related to that area. Some charities will require that applicants have training at their own expenses related to the offered job placements. Some organisations like Voluntary Service Overseas require experienced professionals such as engineers, head teachers, IT specialists, business development consultants, etc.

There are other cases when it is not required to have qualifications, just the willingness to help others and understand their needs.
