  I quit my job a couple of years ago when my twins were born, I was stressed out. Now I’m beginning to look for work again, but just the sheer process is making me feel strained already. Has anybody some good piece of advice I can follow?

    Sometimes it’s got to do with your temperament or personality… If you have a tendency to getting tense easily, you’ll have more trouble controlling those anxiety feelings. I’m neither nor, but I find that there are 2 things that help me loads. Sports and lowering expectations and demands on myself, my job and last but not least my management of home.

      What you say makes a lot of sense, thanks Lauren. I’ll try to apply it to my life. I think that what’s going to be more difficult for me is the home business, I’m a bit obsessive when it comes to order and stuff. Many thanks, your input has been really useful.

  I’ve heard about survey taking as a good option to earn some money working from home. Has anybody tried it? What are the requirements? How do you qualify to be included?

    First of all, watch out for ‘scam’. 2nd be aware that you’ll get some cash, but you won’t get rich. There’s a tendency to believe that survey takers get a lot of money, enough not to have to do any other jobs, from my experience I must say this believe is an urban myth.

      Thanks for your warning Rachel, I'll keep it in mind. My idea is to get some cash, not to become rich :-) Do you know how it works? or how can I qualify?

        What you do is google looking for lists of paid surveys companies. Then register with those you feel comfortable with and in doing so you’ll be asked many questions to see what your interests are, your depth of knowledge of different aspects, and so on. Most only send 2 or 3 surveys a week, so the idea is to register with as many as possible.

    This is such an open question. Difficult to answer, it’ll depend on your previous experience and your formal training.

      I guess you’re right. In the past I have worked as cashier in a shop for nearly two years and as receptionist in a logistics business for nearly a year. I don’t know if that would give me points to qualify for a job working from home.

        I can think of customer service representative. Have you considered it? You’ll need to invest some time to become familiar with the policies and the products of a company depending on whether it’s in the services sector or in retail and from there on it’d be a question of keeping yourself up-to-date.

• Are jobs to work from home that difficult to find? Madeline Last updated by Madeline: 24-Oct-2017

  I trained as a secretary, but since my eldest daughter was born 5 years ago I’m a stay at home mum. Now when my kids are a bit older, I’d like to work part-time from home. I’ve been trying to find work for more than a month now but I find it’s quite difficult to find a job that adjusts to my times and profile. I would have thought that if you’re a secretary and your boss is forever travelling and at meetings you end up having to interact via phone and e-mail. In these cases it seems to be no problem. It looks though that if the case is the opposite, your boss is office based but you’re not in the office, the deal is not accepted. Wouldn’t it basically be the same?

    I’d like to think that it’s because face to face and regular communication can be a lot more effective, but I’m not sure if this is not just wishful thinking.

      I believe it’s the latter, unfortunately. Many secretaries do their job well and punctually with their boss out of the premises most of the time, why shouldn’t it be the same the other way around? Is it a question of ‘privileges’? Of some enjoying more flexibility than others? Of some having to be ‘controlled’ while others can move freely with the assumption that some will not do their job if not supervised while other always will comply with their responsibilities? Sooo frustrating and unfair!
