The usual business models and their respective ways of working have been totally transformed at a global level by the irruption of technology and analytical processes that so characterize the IT Sector.

The Information Technology industry has been booming for years, and innovation processes have been helping the growth of this industry all over the world. The activities carried out by the IT sector have become a key factor for the differentiation of companies in a fast changing and competitive market. They are so much, that these work profiles are gaining importance within the organizations and have a significant influence on strategic decisions.

According to CompTia’s statistics, the sector’s incessant global growth has meant that the IT Sector is on track to reach a value of 5 trillion dollars this year. Faced with this reality, the US is the most technological market in the world, reaching almost one third of the value of the sector. On the European level, in the year 2018 the technological sector in the United Kingdom stood out over the rest of the countries, reaching an increase in jobs in the sector by 20%, thus becoming the fourth most prosperous industry in the country.

Despite the growth of employment in this area in the UK, the sector continually faces the difficulty of covering vacancies in companies. This is due to the lack of professionals who meet the skills required by companies, as well as the great demand that exists for these very specific roles. IT is a very broad field, where we can find different professionals whose role in the company varies, as well as the necessary requirements to qualify for the position. To learn more about the development of the sector, here are some of the profiles which were the most in demand in 2019:

  • Machine Learning

The wide area occupied by this profile revolves around a phenomenon that appeared years ago: Big Data. All movements that occur on the Internet generate an infinite amount of data. These specialists are in charge of collecting data sources and transforming it through algorithms into useful information. Mainly, this profile requires analytical capacity and management of statistical programming.

According to data extracted from Job Market Insights, specifically in the UK, offers of employment for Machine Learning Engineers have grown by 93.7% in the last months compared to the same period of the previous year.

  • Front-end Developer

The front-end developer is in charge of perfecting the visual appearance, the structure and the behaviour of web pages in order to provide the best possible user experience. For this, this person must have knowledge of structure moderation languages, such as CSS or HTML among others, and knowledge of frameworks for the respective languages ​​above all.

  • Back-end Developer

While the previous profile is responsible for developing the experience of the website, this position is responsible for the technology and programming of the web pages to make them operational. At the same time it is this person who usually solves the technical problems of the web sites. To qualify for a position of these characteristics, they must have knowledge of the factors named in the previous position, as well as orientation to the needs of the client and management of server configurations.

In reference to the last two profiles, in general, the Software Developer area has generated more than 40,000 job offers in the United Kingdom in the last year.

  • Business Analyst

This role involves being in contact with technology, managers and clients alike. Its objective is to identify opportunities for improvement in the business through data and technology. In the last twelve months a total of 60,000 job offers have demanded this role in the United Kingdom.

For all these reasons, the IT Sector is consolidating itself as one of the sectors with the greatest capacity to generate employment in the coming years.
