Business Travel

Known usually as a Business travel consultant, this is a vital role within the tourism industry. The job entails dealing with various types of VIP business travel accounts. In the role, he/she usually deals with clients that are going on official or commercial trips to conduct activities related to business, not leisure or holidays
The duties of the job include reserving all aspects of business-related travel including flights, hotels, car hire, rail and visas. It is important to provide advice and information to corporate business clients to ensure their required needs are met. Itineraries need to be planned, as well as arrangements made for clients
Working in business travel requires a highly aggressive person, with good leadership skills and attention to detail. Being able to communicate with managers and staff at all levels is essential and customer service must be delivered to a high level at all times. Having previous world travel experience and the ability to speak different languages can be beneficial
A diploma in hospitality management is required. A tourism management degree or Masters is also highly useful. The average salary in the role is £25,000 in the whole of the UK, but £22,000 excluding London. The lowest offered would be 19,000, but some of the more lucrative London jobs can offer as much as £29,000.
