Event Planner
Firms who need to plan any kind of event often find it is an enormous task to complete without outside help. Therefore, it’s no surprise to find that many of these firms approach their local events management consultancy for help in completing this task. These consultancies employ a number of event planners in a range of positions
The position of event planner is highly-paid and offers those graduates in disciplines such as marketing, or hotel management a rewarding career in hospitality. Duties can include booking venues, publicising events and negotiating contracts. The job doesn’t end once the event is finalised; event planners are also responsible for managing the setting-up of the venue itself
Strong communication skills are a must, as is the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. A broad knowledge of the hospitality industry is also a distinct advantage. Those working in the industry can earn up to £25,000 on graduation, with senior employees earning at least £50,000 with 10 years experience.
