Geologist

Working with contractors, consultants and companies within the mineral extraction industry, the geologist will be responsible for identifying and assessing the quality and quantity of mineral deposits, preparing reports and maps, and using computer applications to analyse data to help advise engineering, technical and managerial staff.
The ideal candidate will be required to have a degree in geology and have a proven track-record in accuracy, as extraction processes can be very expensive. The candidate will often have undergone, or be willing to undergo, more intensive training to ensure that mistakes aren't made. The geologist will have excellent organisational skills, can work with a variety of different experts and communicate well. Good computer literacy and attention to detail are a must
The average salary for this role is between £22,893 and £46,246, inclusive of bonuses and commissions, although those will vary from employer and the region that the work takes place.
