A carer in the education sector provides personalised care to children across a broad spectrum of ages and abilities. The carer is responsible for ensuring that the child’s safety, health and nutrition and education are well maintained. This role is vital to a child’s emotional and social development and usually the key duties involve planning and scheduling activities for the child, working with the parents to establish their educational needs, observing the child’s behaviour and reporting back to parents or guardians, and liaising with nannies and teachers to schedule learning or play sessions.
There is usually no requirement for a university degree; however, preference would be given to candidates with a bachelor’s degree in child development, education or a related field. Background checking is a requirement and the ability to be able to execute CPR is usually required.
The mean salary for this role is between £10,000 and £14,000.
