With a PhD or a degree in Chemistry, the analytic chemist will use state-of-the-art equipment to analyse, test and evaluate certain samples. The candidate will work under the Senior Chemist and contribute to or carry out extensive laboratory testing and experimental work.
The candidate must work methodically and have a keen eye for detail, as well as working under within the HS&E boundaries at all times. Making hazard and risk assessments on certain activities will also be required. Excellent communication and report writing skills are needed, and the ability to work within a team, as well as under high pressure situations, are a must.
Working with hydrogenation, continuous processes, fixed bed reactor and alkylation chemistry is usually required. The understanding that some or all data is in confidence is also required, and the reports must be safely delivered to comply with the company's requirements.
The average salary for those working in a chemistry based environment is £23,500, including bonuses.
