Thurso (from Old Norse, meaning 'Bull's water' and called Inbhir Theòrsa in Scottish Gaelic) is a town and former burgh on the north coast of the Highland local government area of Scotland, UK. Historically, the town is one of two burghs within the county of Caithness. Thurso has a population of approximately 9,000 residents (2001 census).
