Media Planner
Working as a media planner requires a good knowledge of the media industry and the ability to schedule publicity events in coordination with advertising agencies and to develop strategies for campaigns. The development of good relations with sales personnel, from radio, television, newspaper organisations and online advertisers, is an important part of the job, so excellent communication skills are required
Multi-tasking is an important aspect of the work as there may be several ongoing projects which require regular monitoring and updating. An organised but creative mind is an essential attribute for the successful media planner. Being able to present new ideas to clients, and bring a change of strategy to a campaign, is all part of the job. As there is an element of buying involved, experience in negotiating contracts is another useful skill for the media planner working on marketing campaigns.
Salaries are often offered as packages ranging from £35,000 to £45,000 plus good company benefits.
