Media Sales

Media sales representatives are responsible for selling advertising space in newspapers, magazines, television, websites and related media. This involves identifying and securing new customers as well as maintaining the existing customer base. Those in the job are also overly responsible for the financial success of the company as often advertising is the main source of the media company’s revenue
A media sales rep should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as excellent presentation skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet targets and deadlines. Demonstrating initiative and the ability to work autonomously are also important skills, as is a degree of creativity applied to the position
The average salary for this role is £20,000 per year. Knowledge of sales and marketing is essential as well as a good standard of written and verbal communication. No formal educational qualifications are necessary, but a bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject would be desirable. In-house training is usually available for successful applicants.
