Outreach

Work in the field of social outreach is a significant career requiring extreme dedication. One of the primary duties of the social outreach officer is to develop educational programmes aimed at assisting communities at grass roots levels. People working in this field need to plan and create programmes in association with other organisations, making the ability to build good working relationships an essential tool
Candidates need a range of skills to be successful as an outreach worker. Impeccable communication skills are essential, as is an outstanding passion for improving communities. An employee in this field also has to possess excellent time management skills, and must be willing to work flexible hours
Salaries for outreach workers are generally around £20,000 a year, although organisations in the UK’s larger cities may well offer higher wages commensurate with living and travelling expenses. Candidates don’t necessarily need a university degree or tertiary diploma, but qualifications in social work or social health would certainly help during the application process.
