Producer
The role of producer covers a wide range of work and this includes media production in areas such as television and radio, digital media production and event production. The television based position is not necessarily for a major broadcaster, as there are many companies now running their own media services, so the role can be for an in house television service
Each has its own special requirements, and each commands a varying salary. The television producer has the task of making sure all the elements of a program are in place technically, and must be able to communicate with a wide range of people
Organisational skills are important, and with regard to qualifications, the person should have the industry standard of a degree level of education, preferably in a related field. Running budgets, heading up technical staff meetings and output scheduling are all part of a job which is rewarding, and commands a salary of between £20,000 and £30,000 per annum for producing within a company media team. A senior staffer working for a blue chip agency can get up to £55,000.
