Quality Auditor
Excellent negotiating and interpersonal communications skills are necessary for the job of quality auditor, as is meticulous attention to detail and objectivity in quality-based decision-making. The position brings together all the quality control and analysis measures used in the manufacturing process by auditing and examining the results, recommending adjustments or re-planning if necessary.
Other key tasks include initiating internal communication regarding compliance issues or regulation changes, keeping and updating all audit files and working closely with quality control team supervisors on the maintenance of good practice. Quality auditors can be either internal or work for firms providing independent quality auditing services to manufacturers or service providers.
Computer skills are required, although on-job training is almost always given to internal appointees to familiarise them with the operations of the company. A degree in business studies is helpful, as is previous experience of relevant manufacturing processes
Salaries at entry level start at around £20,000 and can rise to £37,000 and more for experienced staff.
