Trainee Housing Officer

Many people with several years of experience in other careers have chosen to become trainee housing officers, usually hired by local or government housing associations to oversee their properties and tenants. Most trainee positions in this field are known as housing administrators, housing assistants, housing support officers, or customer service staff.
The majority of associations who hire trainee housing officers will train their new staff on neighbourhood nuisances, health and safety issues, regulatory updates, how to handle difficult tenants, and other issues likely to be encountered on the job. Larger employers may also provide graduate trainee programs geared towards recent university graduates
The most important qualities for this position include the ability to communicate efficiently with a variety of people as well as experience in other relevant fields. Past experience or studies in law, housing, business, urban planning, or social policy are also beneficial. The average starting salary for a trainee housing officer ranges from £16,900 to £18,900.
