Valeting
To be a valet a person must have a strong work ethic and enjoy physical work. It is a job that requires no qualifications, but training will be provided to new employees so they are proficient at using the technical equipment required for the role
The main duties of valeting are to clean the outside and inside of the car, and making any minor mechanical adjustments that may be needed. If the employee is working for a car dealership, the work is focussed on providing an immaculate service, so the car is worthy to sit on display in a showroom
The applicant must also be able to repair minor damages to the body of the car, should the car require it. It is also important to be able to service the car’s features, such as the air conditioning unit. There will be a degree of contact with customers and so the role requires a strong communicator who can carry out the customer's wishes
For those with experience in this position, who have a firm grasp of the different machinery used for valeting, a salary of between £15,000 - £20,000 per annum can be expected.
