Numerous industries have the need for trained individuals to install their products and others have a consistent need for professionals to aid with the installation of systems, manufacturing equipment and computers
There are dozens of job titles associated with this task, ranging from an IT installer to those working with appliances, security alarms, automobile accessories, HVAC units, utility equipment, satellite and cable television, swimming pools and numerous other items throughout households and businesses
Each individual position will have a unique set of requirements, though individuals performing this task must be trained in their specialised area of installation and many must be able to deal with a consistently changing set of surroundings and challenges. Special certifications are a must for certain positions such as an HVAC specialist and those working with technology and computer equipment usually need a university degree
Salaries depend on the field of expertise and specific position. Those installing television equipment and basic utility equipment will make about £20,000 to £30,000 a year, HVAC specialists about £37,000 a year and IT installation specialists can earn well over £40,000 a year.

As the name suggests an Installer, tests, installs, or maintains equipment or machinery. They work in various sectors and businesses. They perform many technical functions and may work at a specific location or go to their client location to install the company’s equipment. They receive good salaries and benefits. They may work typical office hours or work on a shift basis. They must be flexible.
An Installer usually performs many of the following tasks:
• Conducting repairs on equipment
• Installing machines and other equipment
• Following safety guidelines
• Performing safety and work tests
• Ordering tools and work equipment
• Visiting client locations

• Being methodical and safety conscious
• Being physically fit and able to see all colours
• Being courteous and discrete
• Using proper judgement and tact
• Being able to work on own initiative
• Understanding technical information and drawings
• Understanding mathematical calculations and other numerical data
• Operating in high places
• Taking measurements and performing calculations
• Being practical and reasonable
• Planning and customer service

An Installer must have the technical knowledge and skill about the machinery or equipment that is being installed. Oftentimes companies may take in employees and offer them training for their specialised equipment. Generally Installers must be highly technical, able to work and resolve issues, as well as learn fairly quickly.
Having subjects or qualifications is also vital. These may include:
•    HNC
•    GCSE
•    City and Guilds
•    Diploma or Associate Degree
These are all acceptable to employers. Installers will also need to have CSCS card.
