How to get one
I’d like to do an apprenticeship in event management, but I’m not sure how to go about it. Could someone help, please?
Emily-
Have you trained as an event manager? I’m asking because school often have a range of options for their students. If you finished a while ago or have no formal training, my advice is that you try to contact a company in the sector and offer your services, starting from a basic position and then try to work your way up. This, is you’re good for the job, tends to work.

Thank you Tanya. I have no formal training…this is my problem… What you say makes sense to me, but I still don’t know where to start. Who do I contact? How do I go about this?
-
Personally, I’d research my area for recurrent events where they probably need extra help on a yearly basis, there are also many events that are seasonal. Aim at those too. I think that punctual or seasonal events are a great way to start as you can give your all without fear of being wrecked immediately after –when supposedly you’d have other events- Not that this is an ideal thing for too long, but as a starting point I think it’s ideal and you get plenty of experience.
- London is definitely a place where you could do this… Are you far from it?

- I’m in Musselburgh, Edinburgh is around the corner, I’d say I should be able to get something there. I’ll try … thanks!
