Jobs in publishing are not confined to just the print media, but also include digital web site publishing as well. Each has technical differences which writers, editors and designers have to adhere to. Generally speaking, most employers require a good first degree in relevant subjects such as media studies, English, modern languages, history, among others. There are different institutions offering training schemes for this area including The Society for Editors and Proofreaders, Periodicals Training Council, and National Council for the Training of Journalists.
