An IT trainer will be expected to demonstrate the ability to instruct raw students, end users, engineers and/or management in a variety of IT matters. As such, strong communications skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant areas of IT will generally be expected as basic abilities
Many roles require travelling to client locations where the ability to project a professional image at all times is required. For some positions, the ideal candidate will bring demonstrable experience providing hands-on training and coaching, analysis of performance, development of new training programmes and the creation of assessment tools
Many roles will require existing knowledge of relevant protocols, applications, platforms and/or hardware. The ability to stay current with developing technologies is a plus, as is any relevant industry certification or qualification. Work is available in everything from long-term salaried positions to short-term contracts and consultancy positions
A permanent position as an IT trainer generally offers salaries ranging from £25,000 to £45,000. Short-term project and consultancy work can pay day rates between £100 and £300.
