The network analyst ensures the smooth operation of an organisation’s network system and is responsible for the installation, layout, and maintenance of all network activities. This includes the planning, designing, analysing, and providing of technical support for communications networks. Many people in this field also conduct research and assessment of network technology and make recommendations for network equipment purchases.
Typical work duties include interfacing with users and evaluating technical requirements, providing cost analyses and project plans and coordinating tasks for network installation. Establishing user profiles, environments, and directories may also be involved, as well as offering computer training to department staff members.
This job position requires GCSE and higher qualifications or relevant certification in the field as well as previous experience. A working knowledge of network platforms such as Novell and Windows NT, plus the ability to create and execute the installation of data networks are essential. Strong interpersonal skills are preferred, as you will be interfacing frequently with company personnel. The typical annual pay for this job is around £35,000.
