The role of the nursery manager is to oversee, lead and run, organise and staff the nursery. This individual will be a key member in the organisation who reports to the general manager and deals primarily with the education and care of children aged 0-5 years.
The role includes keeping all records up to date, feeding back to parents and taking information from the supervisors and nursery assistants. Working closely with Ofsted and staff from the NHS Trust, Social Services and Surestart will also be necessary.
The qualifications needed are a level 4 early years diploma, NVQ, NNEB and other relevant training in day care settings. Having at least three years experience in a similar role managing staff and dealing with children is desirable. Communication skills should be excellent, both verbal and written, and the candidate should be warm and caring towards families. An approachable, flexible and enthusiastic personality will be an asset
Depending on location and experience, the average salary is £26,000.
