Question

Council pay I'm considering applying to council jobs, but I've just been told that the pay isn't good. Is this so? I'd always thought they were particularly well paid jobs.

Wages are not low, but jobs are graded, and when a new appointment is made, unless there are reasons for it to be otherwise, they are made on the bottom of the grade. This is in general terms. If I were you, I'd get all the details from the specific vacancy you're applying for...
