Nuclear energy is one of the energy options chose by various countries in order to cope with the always increasing energy demand. Nuclear engineer posts require a Higher National Diploma, Higher National Certificate, degree or foundation degree in a relevant science or engineering subject. Higher National Diploma and Certificate require a BTEC national certificate or diploma, or one A level/three H grades in a relevant subject. Degree courses require two A levels/three H grades and five GCSE´s/S grades (A-C/1-3) including physics and math as a minimum.

There are institutions offering training schemes such as The British Nuclear Group and British Energy. The first organisation offers a programme that involves being assigned a personal mentor to give career guidance and technical advice in the training plan.
