Are freelancers considered employees?
I’m starting as a freelancer and have some doubts I can’t seem to get an answer for. There’s a very simple one, which is whether a freelancer is considered as an employee when they work for the same company for a certain length of time. This is my case, as I’m doing a 10 month project for a company.

As far as I know, as a freelancer you’re not considered an employee. From a legal perspective a freelancer is a self-employed individual, who often works for several clients at a time and who is responsible for their yearly self assessment tax return and for registering with HMRG.30-Nov-2017

Technically that’s the case, but I would honestly look for professional advice on this one.11-Dec-2017

I want to become a freelancer but I don’t really know where to start!
I’d like to take a step and become a freelance writer but I don’t really know where to start. I work at a bank during the day and could do my writing in the evenings. I don’t really know where to start though. Has somebody good advice to share?

I’m pretty much in the same situation. I came across an interesting web to get to grips with the general concepts and the overall picture. Still, I’ll get myself an adviser who can guide me through, at least at the beginning. https://www.simplybusiness.co.uk/knowledge/articles/2017/03/how-to-become-a-freelancer-in-the-uk/22-Nov-2017
