Sous to head chef
I've been working as a sous chef for 5 years now, and I have the hope to move on to become a head chef. How can I know whether I'm prepared and will succeed?

This is difficult to say as I don't know you or the way you work. Still, what I'd say is that if you really want to try, there's no better way than applying to several job openings and seeing what feedback you get. In the worst case scenario at least you'll be able to ask what it is you're still lacking to take the final plunge.
-
Thank you Kevyn. I'd considered what you suggest, it's just I backed down for fear of loosing it all, current job and possible job as chef. Agghhh I don't know what to do!
-
I know the decision is tough, but you know the old saying 'no risk, no gain'. Maybe, if you're weary about it, it means that it's still not your time, that you're still not confident enough. Though if you ask me, with time I've come to the conclusion that if you want something bad you've got to make a move, not doubt too much, and once you're reasonably sure, take the plunge! Consider your timing and whether you feel confident, and then ACT!
- Thank you Kevyn. I suppose your right, I'll do as you say. It's just I'm getting married in less than a year and I wouldn't like to make a mistake. I'll give it a thought and see. Many thanks for your advice.

I’ve been thinking about it and I’ll go for it! I’m a bit scared but energised at the same time. Thank you again!
-
Glad to hear man! And remember, if it doesn’t work this time, it’s not the end of the world. Ask for feedback and try again in the future, it’s not like trying now stops you from trying again in future! Best.
- Will do!
