The vast majority of work in this field requires an experienced commercial driver with suitable qualifications to instruct drivers in the haulage and logistics industries. Some roles involve a greater degree of sales and/or management activity. Regardless of the exact role, the job holder will most likely be involved in the delivery of training programmes to clients in the DBV (Distribution and Haulage) industry
The needs of these industries to maintain standards and meet increasing levels of regulation demand candidates to display a significant level of relevant experience, training and certification. A background in LGV, HGV, DGV industries with relevant driver certification will generally be required, as will experience delivering Driver CPC. HVG, RTITB or similar approved certification will be needed
A1/D32/D33 qualification is often demanded. Relevant teaching certification, such as PTLLS, PGCE, CTLLS or DTLLS is also often required. Some positions may allow less-experienced applicants or those lacking many qualifications to undergo instruction. A median salary of £25,000 is available, with pay ranging from £20,000 to £30,000. Sales/management roles can offer substantially higher OTE earnings.
