Deaf massage therapist
I'm trying to get a job as a massage therapist but i'm finding it very difficult and I think it's because I'm nearly deaf. Has anybody had this experience too?

I have, indirectly. I used to work with a girl who was virtually blind. Truth is that she was very much in demand. People used to say that she had a special touch, a special skill.
-
I’d say this is precisely because of her eyesight condition. When one of your senses is not working well or is less active than it should be, you tend to develop your other senses further as well as strategies that often compensate, when not overcompensate, for your lack. The sense of touch is essential in blind –or nearly blind- people.
-
This is precisely how I feel about it, you really do develop an extra something that I’ve no doubt is a special gift.
- I agree. I’ve seen this happen over and over again. Geena, I wouldn’t let this initial lack of response stop me. I’m sure you’ll make it and, you never know, maybe it doesn’t even have anything to do with it, maybe it’s just been a coincidence. Best!

- Many thanks all for your feedback and support. I’m definitely going to keep at it. Thanks.
