Technicians are required to maintain and repair vehicles, equipment or machinery. There are many areas where they can work, including mainly vehicles business where they repair lorries, motorcycles, vans, etc. Technicians deal with several clients and types of vehicles at the same time, listening to technical problems, diagnosing issues, and fixing failures.

Technicians usually perform many of the following tasks:
• Repairing vehicles.
• Creating reports about technical problems.
• Testing parts.
• Providing cost estimates.
• Using tools and computer software for repairing processes.

A recommended path to be a Technician is to have a training scheme as a technician apprentice with Foundation Modern Apprenticeships. This is only for young people from 16 to 24 years old. For these courses, it is necessary to have Intermediate GNVQ/GSVQ level II or four GCSE’s (A-C)/S grades (1-3), including technology, math, and science.

Other relevant qualifications for this area are the National Qualification, National Certificate, Higher National Diploma, and Higher National Certificate. Requirements vary according to qualifications, but National Qualification and National Certificate require standard grades. High National Diploma and High National Certificate require 1-3 Highers.
